Ku Nye Massage may involve the use of special individual therapies:

(bLha Chung) bLha Massage is a gentle application to rebalance our vital energy. bLha is an essential and protective energy that moves continually in our body together with our consciousness, from one life to another. This energy moves in different directions for men and women. The treatment involves the use of oils, consultation of the Tibetan Lunar Calendar, visualistions and mantras are recited to restore the balance of the bLha energy.

(Tsa Kor) Chakra Massage is also a gentle therapy to rebalance subtle levels of energy. Chakras are centres where energy is produced and transported through our body via channels. Each chakra relates to a colour, an emotion and a function in the body. The application involves analysis, use of oils, visualisations and mantras.

(Do Nye) Hot stones are used to give heat to the muscles and tendons. They can be used to rub along the muscles or simply placed on points to give stronger heat. Shell massage is excellent for the nervous system. Agate slices are used to give cooling and relieve Bile conditions.

(Yuk Cho) Special sticks are used to gently tap points on the body. This therapy works with vibration to relieve tension and energy blocks, and the sticks can also be used to rub or press on the muscles as well.

(Me Tza) Moxibustion is a method used to facilitate the flow of energies by heating certain points on the surface of the body. A smoldering stick (cigar) of mugwort (Artemesia vulgaris) is held close to the point to radiate heat into it.

In the Tibetan tradition, the method used to apply moxibustion is to burn a cone of Artemesia on a specific point, on top of a slice of garlic or ginger. Moxibustion is especially effective in alleviating chronic pain in muscles and joints. It is aimed at improving the circulation of blood and energy, eliminating blocks and pain.

(Hor Me) Mongolian Moxibustion is a more gentle moxibustion technique and involves a herbed pouch being warmed with oil and applied to points on the head and body. This is especially effective to treat emotional stress, depression and trauma.

(Duk Cho) Hot or Cold Compresses with either salt, sand or small stones is used to give heat (or cold) to various areas of the body. Hot salt compress is especially effective for arthritic conditions and pain relief.

(Me Bum) Cupping is the application of suction cups to the skin to various areas of the body. It is used for muscular pain and to draw the excess or block of energy at the level of the internal organ.

(rLung Dug) Smoke therapy consists of burning medicinal herbs on charcoal, allowing the smoke to be inhaled and to permeate the whole of the body. The inhaled smoke reaches the brain and affects the mind with a balancing and relaxing effect.
